Alroy Steve Irvin, of Dixon, was born on April 2, 1939, at Brinktown, a son of Virgil Osbe and Frances Regina (Wieberg) Irvin, and departed this life on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at his residence in Dixon. He had attained the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 13 days.
He served in the U.S. Navy from February 10, 1958 until he was honorably discharged on February 2, 1962, at Patuxent River, Maryland.
Steve was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason at Marlinton Lodge #127 A.F. & A.M. , Marlinton, West Virginia, on April 18, 1998, and went on to the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32 nd degree, in Marlinton, West Virginia.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, first in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4595 Marlinton, West Virginia, then transferring to the Pulaski County Memorial Post No. 4238, after moving back to Dixon in 2017.
During his working life Steve was a fire fighter for the District of Columbia Fire Department from September 15, 1963 until retiring with the rank of Captain, Engine Company 13, on July 18, 1987, and was a member of the Fire Fighters Association, District of Columbia Local No 36.
Those left to mourn Steve include: His siblings, Forrest Irvin and wife Sherry, Lee's Summit; Virginia Wright and husband Ron, Columbia; Wilda Landers, Devil's Elbow; Joyce Hickey, Dixon; and A.J. Irvin and wife Donita, Dixon; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil, on November 6, 1979; his mother, Frances, on March 13, 1997; and one brother, Randall Irvin, on January 22, 1997.
Visitation for Steve will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 19, 2019, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
Interment will be in the Fox Crossing Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.
