Alton Parker Evans, of Vienna, formerly of Freeburg, was born on November 10, 1940, at Buxton, North Carolina, a son of Alton Parker, Sr. and Daphne Delia (Midgett) Evans, and departed this life at 6:15 p.m., on Friday, December 8, 2017, at his daughter's residence. He had attained the age of 77 years and 29 days.

Aggie was first united in marriage on July 3, 1963, at South Norfolk, Virginia, to the former Virginia Ann Land, and later was united in marriage, a second time, on July 14, 1986, at Medicine Lodge, Kansas, to the former Shirley Jean Gentges.

Mr. Evans' "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

Aggie was a member of the Methodist faith and a former member of the Order of Fraternal Eagles. Activities he especially enjoyed included playing football, baseball, and basketball as well as taking care of his grandchildren.

Following his army career, Aggie was employed as a carpenter for four years followed by working for the United States Government Engineering Department as an Equipment Specialist, Norfolk, Virginia, for twenty-one years followed by being employed as an over the road truck driver, for various carriers, for twenty years, prior to his retirement in February of 2003. He had lived most of his life on the east coast and moved to Freeburg from Chesapeake , Virginia, on June 29, 2010, which happened to be his daughter, Brandi's, birthday to be near family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Aggie: His son, Michael Scott Evans, and friend, Janice Jackson, of Orlando, Florida; his daughter, Brandi Holterman and husband, Travis, of Vienna; his four grandchildren, Nicolas Evans, Luke Evans, Lane Holterman, and Haven Holterman; one sister, Daphne Lillian (Evans) Belter, of Buxton, North Carolina; three brothers, John Marshall Evans and wife, Lynn, of Norfolk, Virginia, Dean Ross Evans and wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Timothy Ray Evans of Buxton, North Carolina; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Nacy Anthony Evans and Donald Eric Evans.

Aggie was a modest and uncomplicated individual and the way he lived and interacted with others is the best tribute anyone could have for their life. Fond and precious memories will always be remembered in the hearts of his dear family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
