Obituary

Alvin Alphonse Patten, of Linn, formerly of Vienna, was on born May 7, 1948, at Jefferson City,  a son of William Henry and Johanna Marie (Wieberg) Patten, and departed this life at 4:04 p.m., on Monday, March 26, 2018, in the General Baptist Nursing Home, Linn.  He had attained the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 19 days.

Mr. Patten was united in marriage on August 18, 1968, at Vienna, to Sandra Ann Holman, and to this union, two children were born.  He was preceded in death by his father, William; his mother, Johanna; and three siblings, Mary Jane Bonny, Donald Patten, and Beatrice Dunn.

On February 14, 1968, at St. Louis, Mr. Patten entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until September 18, 1969, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Lewis, Washington, at the rank of Private First Class.  A man of excellent character, Alvin's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and followed him in baptism in 1996, and at the time of his passing was a member of the Little Flock Baptist Church, Vienna.  During his working life, he had been employed by the Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg, as a truck driver for over thirty years retiring in 2001 due to failing health, and was a partner in R & A Trucking, Vienna, as long as his health permitted.  Alvin enjoyed tractor pulls, coon and deer hunting, and riding horses.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Patten include: His wife of over forty-nine years, Sandra Patten of the home in Linn; his children, Ronald A. Patten and Carol Schulte, both of Linn; his grandson, William Schulte, of Linn; his siblings, Raymond Patten, of Dixon; Helen Weed and husband, Henry, of Freeburg; and twin sister, Arlene Frie, of Apache Junction, Arizona; nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
