Jean Asher passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 23, 2020 in Jefferson City, MO at the age of 87. She has joined her beloved husband, Bill and youngest son, Timothy in heaven.
Many will remember her smiling face behind the counter at Dave's A&G where she worked from 1988 to 1994 prior to her final retirement. In the 70's and 80's Jean worked with her husband Bill Asher at William Asher Associates of Tulsa, OK. As Office Manager she was the glue that held it all together. Jean was a stay at home mom and a homemaker with a culinary flair. She was an excellent seamstress and an avid reader and gardener while she was still able. Jean was always curious about everything and loved listening to public radio and was a frequent financial contributor. She loved nature, always looking out for wildlife around their home. She enjoyed bridge with family members, and was always up for any game in general, including lots of Yahtzee! Jean volunteered a long side Bill at Vienna's Loaves and Fishes, stocking pantry items and was a dedicated blood donor for many years. She and Bill's faith was very important to them and were active members of Vienna/Rader United Methodist Church participating in many services over the years.
In addition to her husband Bill and son, Tim, she was preceded in death by her parents Charly and Ethel Swarthout and three brothers, Charles, Tom and Harry Swarthout. She is survived by her sister, Alice Holmes; brothers, Don(Wanda) and Dave(Kay) Swarthout; daughter, Diane King(Steve Jaynes) and son, Jon Asher(Patty), five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends near and far.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021, with her funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Rader United Methodist Church, 104 US Highway 63 North, Vienna, Missouri 65582. Her family is especially grateful and thankful for the loving care she received at Stonebridge Villa Marie Nursing Home (in The Cottages) in Jefferson City, MO.
Internment will be next to her husband, in the Rader Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Amy Jean Asher are suggested by her family to the Rader United Methodist Church and Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or to the Loaves and Fishes ,Vienna, in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
