Anna Ruth Manes-Wiedenkofer, of Dixon, was born on September 23, 1932, at Iberia, a daughter of Claude Lester Sr. and Gladys Emma Belle (Green) Long, and departed this life at her residence, on Saturday, October 3, 2015. She had attained the age of 83 years, and 10days.
Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer was first united in marriage on August 21, 1949, at Dixon, to Luther Eugene Manes and to this union two children were born. Mr. Manes preceded his wife in death on March 18, 1981. She was later united in marriage on December 5, 1987, at Dixon, to Ora Kevin Wiedenkofer. In addition to her first husband, Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Lee Manes, on July 7, 1951; one daughter Lynda Louise Brown on February 24, 2004; her parents; one granddaughter, Cassy Brown on April 23, 1990; one brother, Claude Long; and one sister, Roxie Southard.
Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer was baptized in 1944 and was a member of the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon. She was a 1961 honor student graduate of the Excella School of Cosmetology, Rolla, former president of the Parent-Teacher Association in Dixon and had worked with the Miss Rodeo Missouri Pageant, with both of her granddaughters being state queens. She had worked as a hairdresser since 1961, owning and operating her own beauty salon, Eileen's Beauty Shop, in Dixon, until 1989. She then was a cook for Triangle Fraternity for ten years and then for Kappa Sigma Fraternity for seven years, leaving to care for her daughter in 2002 when she became ill. Following the death of her daughter in 2004, she was employed by Country Mart of Dixon, in the Deli department.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer include: her husband, Kevin Wiedenkofer, of the home near Dixon; one grandson and his wife, Shawn and Julie Alexander, Dixon; two granddaughters, Jaimee-Lynn Brown, and Amanda-Camielle Brown, both of Steelville; one great-grandson, Leland Alexander, Dixon; one step-daughter, Lynn Wiedenkofer, Lebanon; two sisters, Ella Mae Dake, Springfield; and Clara Farran, LasVegas, Nevada; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Precious memories of Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer will long be remembered in the hearts of her dear family and all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Mr. Bruce Southard, Rolla, officiating and Amanda-Camielle Brown reading the obituary.
Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer were Shawn Alexander, Michael Dake, Larry Dake, Greg Long, Terry Baker, and Roland Ray. Honorary pallbearers were J.L. Farran, Sonny Martin, Clarence Ray and Brandon Overshon. Jaimee-Lynn Brown read a favorite poem of Mrs. Manes-Wiedenkofer's, "When Tomorrow Starts Without Me" and "I'll Meet You In The Morning" was sung by Betty Southard.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the office of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
