Annette “Anne” Catherine Falter, 80, of Westphalia, Missouri, formerly of Freeburg, Missouri, passed peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026, surrounded by loving family.

She was born on April 3, 1946, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Alexander and Emma (Ruder) Rehagen.

She graduated in 1964 from Fatima High School in Westphalia, Missouri.

Anne married Norbert Lawrence Falter on June 26, 1965, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, Missouri, and to this union six children were born. They shared 61 wonderful years together.

Anne earned her associate’s degree in business from State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, Missouri, and her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. She nearly completed a master of divinity degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois.

She was employed with the State of Missouri for most of her career, working for Highway Patrol, Department of Corrections (old State Penitentiary), retiring from Employment Security. She also worked at O’Hara Travel. In addition to full-time employment, she operated her own tax business, Anne Falter Tax Service, for over 40 years.

Anne worked with her husband to operate and sustain the family farm. She devoted her life to educating herself. She loved to read, pray, garden, collect antiques, travel and spend time with others. She and her husband traveled nationally, as well as internationally, including a special pilgrimage to Medjugorje. Anne and Norbert opened their home to anyone in need and hosted multiple foreign exchange students. While her children were young, she served on the Home and School Board and as a 4-H leader; she also worked as an EMT for Maries/Osage County Ambulance District. Anne was active in the community, a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Ann Sodality, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Freeburg and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Argyle. She was involved in many prayer groups and part of a Catholic charismatic group.

Anne had a very giving nature, performing small acts of kindness without fanfare. She always noticed the small, yet beautiful things in life and took pleasure in the simple things.

Anne is survived by her husband, Norbert Falter, and their six children: David Falter, Steven (Sharon) Falter, Michael Falter, all of Freeburg, Mo., Debra (Mike) Deeken of Loose Creek, Mo., Amy Libbert (Matt Kemna) of Wardsville, Mo., Tricia Burkardt (Joel Porath) of Freeburg, Mo.; eight grandchildren: Clayton (Caley) Libbert, Dylan Falter, Kyle Deeken (Abbie Kemna), Nicole Deeken, Sydney Falter, Curtis Deeken, Raleigh Burkhardt and Seeley Burkhardt; and three great-grandchildren Henley, Abraham “Abe” and Millie Libbert; sisters: Teresa Falter and Janet (Lee) Waer; sisters-in-law: Joan Rehagen and Lorraine Rehagen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Anne was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Rehagen on November 15, 1996, and her mother, Emma Rehagen on February 4, 2007; brothers, Frances Rehagen on January 29, 2025, and Jerome “Jerry” Rehagen on September 26, 2023; and brother-in-law, Leander Falter on March 15, 2025.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2026, from 5-7 p.m., with rosary starting at 4:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, Mo., with Rev. William Debo celebrating.

Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, Mo. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Clayton Libbert, Dylan Falter, Kyle Deeken, Nicole Deeken, Sydney Falter, Curtis Deeken, Raleigh Burkhardt and Seeley Burkhardt. All services are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, Mo.

The Falter family invites all attending to share a meal with them at the American Legion Hall in Freeburg following the cemetery service.
