Obituary

Anthony (Tony) Albert Bailey, aged 74, died in his home on December 17, 2017. Tony was born on January 4, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Albert M. and Eleanor (Bosotin) Bailey.

In 1960, Tony married the love of his life the former Miss Judy Ellen Meyers, and to this union, three children were born. Mrs. Bailey departed this life on the same day as her husband. Tony and Judy attended Afton High where they became High School sweethearts. They began their life together while Tony entered the United States Marine Corps. During his military career Tony attained his qualifications as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged as Corporal (E-4) and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Following his service with the US Marine Corps Tony began a twenty-eight year career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and obtained a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Webster University. While with the Missouri State Highway Patrol he attained the position of Public Information Officer and also served as a highway patrol aircraft pilot. Tony reached the rank of Sergeant at Troop C prior to his retirement and moving with his wife to their farm near St. James in Maries County. While retired Tony and Judy enjoyed the peace and tranquility of their home, motorcycling, and traveling to spend time with family and friends.

Tony is preceded in death by his father, Albert; his mother, Eleanor; and a brother, Robert "Bob" Bailey. Those left to mourn the passing of Tony include: His children, Scott Anthony (Kathleen) Bailey, Anthony Albert "Tony" Bailey, Jr. and fiancé Debra, and Tracy Ellen Bailey-Carter; his grandchildren, Emily, Katie, Griffin, Brooke, Lauren, Ryan, Austin, Brennan, and Camaryn; his great-grandson, Lawson; a brother, Albert (Sheri) Bailey; his sisters, Patricia (John) Donbeck, Michelle (George) Estes, Ginelle (Gary) Smith; a sister-in-law, Carol Bailey. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.

A private family service with full military honors will be held for Anthony Albert Bailey at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, on January 29, 2018, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
