Obituary

Arnold Clyde Bassett, of Dixon, was born on August 7, 1942, near Dixon, in Maries County, a son of Clyde Elmer and Neva Faye (Doyel) Bassett, and departed this life at 6:48 a.m., on Sunday, January 10, 2021, in Phelps Health, Rolla. Arnold had attained the age of 78 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

He was united in marriage on May 23, 1964, at Dixon, to the former Miss Donna May Newberry, and to this union, three sons were born.

Arnold accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and followed Him in baptism early in life. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the Kenner Church of God, Dixon. Arnold was a member of more than fifty years and past officer of Arlington Lodge No. 346 A.F. and A.M.; a member and Past Patron of Garnet Chapter No. 283 Order of the Eastern Star; member and past president of the Dixon Lions Club, all in Dixon; board member and past president of the Pulaski County Sheltered Workshop; was a member of the Dixon Rural Fire Protection District for fifty-three years serving as president for twenty-three years of that time; and had served on the committee to construct the new Pulaski County Courthouse. He was owner and operator, along with his wife, Donna, of the Bassett Real Estate for fifty years and Bassett Insurance for thirty-two years, both in Dixon. Arnold especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Arnold includer: His devoted and loving wife, of over fifty-six years, Donna; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan Arnold and Sharon Kay Bassett, Ballwin; Kent Edward and Melinda "Mindy" Bassett, Dixon; and Brent Allen and Nichole Bassett, Dixon; eight grandchildren, Andrew Bassett, Joshua Jones, Jacob Jones, Makayla Jones, Clayton Bassett, Kyle Bassett, Ali Bassett, and Miranda Mclendon; seven great-grandchildren, Malachi, Audrelle, Olivia, Kaydence, Abel, Paisley, Greyson, and two more anticipated; siblings, Robert "Bob" and Pat Bassett, Columbia; and Kenneth and Susan Bassett, St. Robert; and Marilyn and Marty Davis, Rolla; two sisters-in-law, Lela Bassett, Davey, Nebraska; and Marilyn Bassett, Vienna; and other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde, on May 19, 1978; his mother, Faye, on June 14, 2002; and two brothers, Roy Luke Bassett, on September 23, 1994; and Willis Dean Bassett, August 21, 2018.

Visitation for Arnold will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, on Friday, January 15, 2021, with the funeral service following at 12:00 noon, all in the Kenner Church of God, 17996 Maries Road 505, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with Pastor Beverly Sharp officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Kenner Cemetery under the direction of Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers are his eight grandchildren: Andrew Bassett, Joshua Jones, Jacob Jones, Makayla Jones, Clayton Bassett, Kyle Bassett, Ali Bassett, and Miranda Mclendon.

Memorials are suggested to the Kenner Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the Church or in care of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
