August Steven "Steve" Carroll's Obituary
August Steven "Steve" Carroll, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Rolla, was born on January 30, 1955, in St. Louis, a son of August F. and Anna M. (Burnham) Carroll, and departed this life suddenly of an apparent heart attack at 1:38 a.m., on Monday, September 30, 2013, in the Lee's Summit Medical Center, Lee's Summit. Steve had attained the age of 58 years and 8 months.
Steve was united in marriage on December 12, 1981, at Lee's Summit to Patricia Ann Hayes. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Carroll on October 16, 1984; his father in March of 2006; and his mother in February of 2003.
He was a 1975 graduate of Rolla High School, and had attended the University of Missouri, Rolla. Steve was employed as an estimator in the flooring industry in Kansas City. He enjoyed Marlin and competitive Bass fishing, anything involving the outdoors, and spending time with his grandson.
Those left to mourn the passing of Steve include: His wife, Patricia Carroll, of the home in Lee's Summit; one son, Michael Carroll and fiancé, Alyssa Patton, Joplin; one daughter, Megan Carroll and fiancé, Thomas Shawbaker, Lee's Summit; one grandson, Charles Holden Shawbaker; one brother Rick Carroll and wife, Debbie, Rolla; two sisters, Marilyn Carroll, Rolla; and Kathy Steel, near Springfield; his three labs, Annabell, Sophie, and Buster; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Steve at 11:00 a.m., Thursday morning, October 3, 2013, in the Kenner Church of God, near Dixon, with Rev. Karen Alden, Woodlandville United Methodist Church, Rocheport, officiating.
Interment was in the Kenner Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers for Steve were Greg Hayes, Todd Hayes, David Jacks, Aaron Carroll, Blaine Colburn, and Bill Yates. Honorary pallbearer was his grandson, Charles Shawbaker.
Memorials are suggested to the Charles Holden Shawbaker College Education Fund, c/o The Bank of the West, 700 N. State Route 291, and Lee's Summit, Mo 64086.
