Barbara was united in marriage on November 18, 1962, at Dixon, to Charles Joseph Bassett, and to this union, two daughters were born.

She had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, during her teenage years, while attending the Pisgah Baptist Church, near Dixon, and had continued being a faithful member and worker in the church especially in mission programs, the Samaritan's Purse, and the Shoe Box Ministry.  During her working life, Barbara was a devoted housewife, homemaker, mother, and a person that was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.  She was also faithful in assisting her husband in all of their business endeavors, not only as a partner, but in the areas of management and accounting as well.

Family was the most important thing to Barbara.  She was especially proud of her daughters and granddaughter and their accomplishments in earning college degrees and their contributions to their communities.  Barbara loved to cook for her family and two of her favorite pastimes were sewing and quilting
