Barbara Jean Burke, age 64, of Vienna, was born September 30, 1957, at Monticello, IL, a daughter of Russell and Betty (Auten) Karnes, and passed from this life Sunday, December 5, 2021, in University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia.
She was united in marriage December 2, 1978, at Monticello, IL, to Jon Lee Burke, who survives at their home near Vienna.
Growing up in Monticello, IL, Barbara obtained her elementary education and received her high school diploma from schools in her hometown. She accepted Christ as her Savior while attending the Church of the Nazarene in Monticello where her family worshipped.
At the time of her passing, Barbara was employed by G&W Foods, Vienna, as supervisor and manager of the Deli, where she had been a customer oriented and devoted employee for more than seven years. Barbara was also a loving and diligent housewife and homemaker to her husband and family being a person always striving to provide for their needs.
In addition to Jon, her husband of just over forty-three years, others left to mourn the passing of Barbara include: Two sons, Jacob Burke (Allison Fairbanks) of Vienna, and Brendan Burke (Amanda) of Live Oak, FL; three grandchildren, Maryjane Burke of Vienna, and Jonathan Lee Burke and Anna Leiya Burke, both of Live Oak, FL; her parents, Russell and Betty Karnes of Monticello, IL; three siblings, Karen Rocha of Champagne, IL; Becky Powell (David) of Adrian, MO; and Johnny Karnes (Tresa) of Monticello, IL; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ellen Gallaher.
The way Mrs. Barbara Jean Burke lived her life and interacted with others are two of the best tributes anyone could have for their life. Barbara's family and friends will gather at a later occasion for a Celebration of Life Service with location, date, and time to be announced by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
