Bennie Leon Wagner, of Vienna, was born on February 26, 1953, at Jefferson City, the son of Odest Leon and Ida Marie (Crider) Wagner, and departed this life at 10:45 a.m., on Thursday, November 5, 2020, in Maries Manor, Vienna. He had attained the age of 67 years, 8 months, and 10 days.
He and his parents attended the Bethel Church of Christ, near Vienna, where he made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age. Bennie was a 1971 graduate of the Maries R-1 High School, Vienna, and was a member of the Future Farmers of America Chapter while in school. During his working life, Bennie assisted his dad in cutting and selling cordwood, and later in life, he was employed as a truck driver, first for Hilke Ice Company in Freeburg, next for Hocker Oil Company in Rolla, and last for United Van Lines in Fenton, prior to his retirement in the early 2000's. Activities he especially enjoyed included fishing, hunting, driving his four-wheeler, and talking on his CB (Citizens' Band) Radio where he was first known as "Bright Lights" and later as "YoYo".
Those left to mourn the passing of Bennie include: His mother, Marie Wagner, of Vienna; his two sons, Brad Wagner and wife, Amanda, of Rolla, and Brian Wagner and wife, Heather, of Argyle; his ten grandchildren; aunts; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Odest, on December 25, 1989; and one granddaughter, Rylie Dawn Wagner, on April 4, 2017.
Bennie's family and friends will gather at a later occasion to celebrate and reflect on his life with interment in the Vienna Public Cemetery in Vienna. Honorary pallbearers for Bennie are Brad Wagner, Brian Wagner, Raymond Crider, Lance Welschmeyer, Jimmy Bull, and David Martin.
Arrangements are by the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna with correspondence to the family in memory of Mr. Bennie Leon Wagner in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
