Obituary

Berniece Pearl Bullock James, of Vienna, was born on October 31, 1925, at Vienna, in Maries County, the daughter of Robert Clay and Minnie Ellen (Trogdon) Bullock, and departed this life at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her residence, after suffering an apparent heart attack. Mrs. James had attained the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 26 days.

She was united in marriage on January 14, 1945, at Hastings, Nebraska, to Norman Alva James, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. Dr. James preceded his wife in death on November 25, 2008.

Mrs. James had attended Southwest Baptist University (Graduate Academy) in May of 1943 and continued her education there in 1944 then attended Central Missouri State University in 1945 and 1946 prior to her graduation from Arizona State University in 1970 with a Major in Nutrition and Dietetics. During her working life, Mrs. James had been employed in the medical field as a Nutritionist, prior to her retirement.

Mrs. James was a devoted member of the Vienna United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed all church activities, her Sunday school class, the Bereavement Dinner Committee (being a help to others in their time of need), and assisting with mission programs of the church.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. James include: Her brothers and sisters-in-law, Helen Berniece Bullock of Vienna, Richard and Shirley James of Vienna, Louise Albertson of San Antonio, Texas, and LaVerne and Dean Shelley of Columbia; nephews and nieces, Beth Ann and Rex Hollis of Meta, Kevin and Brenda Bullock of Vienna, Dennis Bullock of Vienna, Eric and Kim Bullock of Jefferson City, Beth and Gary Clinkenbeard of Vienna, Linda and Dale Schaffer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sheryl and Rick Schiller of Branson, Peggy and Mike Schler of Jefferson City, Diana James of Vienna, Debbie and Dale Milam of Columbia, Donna and Joe Kell of Kansas City, Mike and Karen Wideman of Katy, Texas, Jim Wideman of Austin, Texas, Carol and George Jenkins of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathy Baker of San Antonio, Texas; thirty great-nephews and nieces; forty-three great-great-nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and a host of friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Clay, on January 23, 1958; her mother, Minnie, on February 11, 1999; her brother, Noel Clay "Bob" Bullock, on March 28, 2007; and one nephew, Roger Dean Bullock, on August 10, 1981.
