Berniece Etta Steuber, of Vienna, was born on June 9, 1921, at Vienna, a daughter of Joseph Barney and Odessia Christine (Wagner) Stratman, and departed this life at 3:44 a.m., on Sunday, May 24, 2020, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. She had attained the age of 98 years, 11 months, and 15 days.

Mrs. Steuber was united in marriage on October 12, 1940, at Vienna, to Ernest Steuber, and to this union, one son was born.

She was a life-long member of the Rader United Methodist Church, Vienna, and was always a willing worker and supporter of the Rader Church and community. Mrs. Steuber thoroughly enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning what she raised.

Not only was she a devoted housewife and homemaker, Mrs. Steuber had worked for Tweedie Shoe Factory, Jefferson City, sewing backpacks and pistol belts for the military during World War II, and was later employed at Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg. She also assisted with work on the family farm and in charge of the dairy cattle as well as helping with combining and hay bailing.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Steuber include: Her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Kathleen Steuber, of Vienna; two grandchildren, Joe Steuber and wife, Carrie, of Columbia, and Julie Long and husband, David, of Vienna; five great-grandchildren, Madison "Madi" Steuber, Maci Steuber, Brittany Long, Alicia Long, and Dylan Long; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, on October 13, 1996; her father, Joe, on February 8, 1970, her mother, Odessia, on July 16, 1976; and her sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Clarence McKinney.

Visitation for Mrs. Berniece Steuber will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582.

Private funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Berniece Steuber, at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in the Rader United Methodist Church, 34200 Highway 63 North, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with the Rev. Karen Alden officiating, by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Interment will be next to her beloved husband in the Rader Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Pallbearers for Mrs. Steuber will be Joseph Steuber, David Long, Donnie McKinney, John Withouse, Dennis Shirk, Brian Gillispie, and Francis Stratman, and her great-grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers: Madison "Madi" Steuber, Maci Steuber, Brittany Long, Alicia Long, and Dylan Long.
