Obituary

Beulah Edith Holtsclaw, of Dixon, was born on July 21, 1923, near Dixon, in Pulaski County, a daughter of William Bertly "Bert" and Sarah Melvina (Martin) King, and departed this life on Sunday morning, February 22, 2015, at her residence near Dixon. Beulah had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 91 years, 7 month, and 1 day.

Beulah was united in marriage on November 6, 1941, at Dixon, to Harley Ivon Holtsclaw, and to this union, two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, on November 10, 2013; one son, Gary Lee Holtsclaw, on March 9, 2002; her father, Bert, on June 26, 1954; her mother, Sarah, in January of 1970; four brothers, Melvin King on October 12, 1979; James King on September 17, 1924; Charles King on December 11, 1998; Harrison King on December 24, 1984; five sisters, Irene Adams on July 20, 1973; Mabel McClendon on September 30, 1987; Mellie Sue Cardin on September 5, 2003; Juanita Prewett on April 25, 2009; and Nellie Kinyon on October 26, 2014.

Beulah was a faithful member of the Pisgah Baptist Church near Dixon. She had accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Saviour and followed her Lord in Baptism early in life. Beulah was a wonderful cook, enjoyed gardening, being outside, and especially hunting mushrooms with Harley. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker for all her working life.

Those left to mourn the passing of Beulah include: One daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Virgil Rigsby, Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Holtsclaw, Dixon; five grandchildren, Brian Holtsclaw, Jami Jenkins, Jason Rigsby, Brent Holtsclaw, and Jon Rigsby; six great-grandchildren, Julia Rigsby, Justine Meier, Carissa Holtsclaw, Jimmie Holtsclaw, Maci Holtsclaw, and Kylin Rigsby, one sister-in-law, Nina Jones, Dixon; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Holtsclaw at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday morning, February 25, 2015, in the Pisgah Baptist Church, Dixon, with Pastor Arthur Gormley officiating.

Interment will be in the Pisgah Cemetery, Dixon, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers for Mrs. Holtsclaw were Brian Holtsclaw, Jami Jenkins, Jason Rigsby, Brent Holtsclaw, Jon Rigsby, and Chuck J. Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers were Julia Rigsby, Justine Meier, Carissa Holtsclaw, Jimmie Holtsclaw, Maci Holtsclaw, and Kylin Rigsby.
