Caroline Ann Alexander, of Dixon, was born on March 25, 1926, at Mexico, Missouri, a daughter of Melvin Harrison and Pearl Jane (Mellinger) Amick, and departed this life at 9:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab Center. She had attained the age of 93 years, 1 month, and 17 days
Caroline was united in marriage on February 4, 1942, at Vienna, to Winston Willard Alexander, and to this union, three children were born.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon, where she attended as long as her health permitted, she was a member of Garnet Chapter No. 283 Order of the Eastern Star, Dixon, and a member of the Ladies Bridge Club of the Oak Hills Country Club. During her working life she was the secretary for the superintendent of the Dixon R-1 Schools System, owner and operator of a dress shop, assisted her husband with the operating of Alexander Tire for over twenty years, and she and Gail Cain were the co-owners and operators of Grandma's Daisy Patch for approximately nine years, all of Dixon. Caroline loved visiting with family and friends and was ready with coffee and a treat when anyone came to visit. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker, always diligent in providing for the care and needs of her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Caroline include: One daughter, Teresa Alexander, Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Jeanne Alexander, Richland; granddaughter, Jami Zolt and husband Sam, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandson, Larry Brett Alexander, and wife Jenny, Richland; three great-grandchildren, twins Ellie and Harrison Zolt, and Eva Alexander, and many other relatives and friends.
A loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Caroline will indeed be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston, on December 3, 2012; two sons, Terry Alexander, on December 21, 2017 and Larry Alexander, on December 10, 2018; her father, Melvin, on January 4, 1974; her mother, Pearl, on April 23, 1978; and siblings, Melvin "Dee" Amick on June 26, 1993, Bill M. Amick, on May 27, 2007, and twins, Marion Paul Amick on June 21, 1995, and Pearl "Pauline" (Amick) Harwood on November 1, 2015
