Catherine Wynette Humphrey, of Iberia, was born November 30, 1923, at Ulman, a daughter of William Arthur "Dugan" and Marsha May (Denton) Shepherd, and departed this life on Sunday, November 2, 2014, in the Capital Regional Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mrs. Humphrey had attained the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 3 days.
Mrs. Humphrey was united in marriage on December 27, 1947, at Iberia, to Vernie Lester Humphrey, and to this union, five children were born. She was preceded in death by her father on September 1, 1945; her mother on June 15, 1993; two brothers, Leman Shepherd on March 19, 1995; and Carl Shepherd on November 2, 2014; and one daughter-in-law, Denise Kay Humphrey on October 11, 2011.
Mrs. Humphrey was a member of Brays Advent Christian Church, Iberia. She had been employed as a seamstress with L.B. Manufacturing, Iberia, for over forty years, retiring in 1986.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Humphrey include: Her husband, Vernie L. Humphrey, of the home near Iberia; two sons Darrell Lemoin Humphrey and fiancé, Charlotte; and Dwight Arthur (Tina) Humphrey, all of Iberia; three daughters, Nancy Catherine (Larry) Groves; ReVae Wynette (John Fergus) Hammack; and Alice Ann (Roger) Lane, all of Iberia; one brother Lemoin Shepherd, Wentzville; three grandchildren, Tera Glee Humphrey, Rolla; Katie Lynn (Eric) Wright, Iberia; and Latesha May (Alex) Zach, Rolla; one great-grandson, Owen Lee Wright, Iberia; and many other family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Humphrey at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in the Brays Advent Christian Church, near Iberia, with Bro. Brian Duncan officiating.
Interment was in the Union Cemetery, near Iberia, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers for Mrs. Humphrey were Larry Groves, Roger Lane, Erick Wright, Ferg Hammack, Alex Zach, and Chris Dye. Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Humphrey, Owen Wright, and Dwight Humphrey.
