Obituary

Charles Richard Honse, age 83, of Vienna, was born January 10, 1939, at Vienna, a son of Clyde Avery and Mabel (Frey) Honse, and passed from this life Thursday, July 28, 2022, in Phelps Health, Rolla.

He was married on December 26, 1958, to the former Miss May Vera Backues, by Travis John, Sr. at his residence in Vienna, with Bonnie Backues and Edwin Honse serving as witnesses.  To this union two children were born.

Charles was a jack of all trades. He was a carpenter, heavy equipment operator, and a laborer. Charles was an active member in the community serving on the Maries County Fair Board, volunteering on the Vienna Fire Department, and the Maries Osage Ambulance for several years.

He was baptized by Brother Bowey, in Terry Baptist Church, on April 24, 1955. Charles was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna when he passed.

Those left to mourn the passing of Charles include: His loving wife of sixty-three years, May Vera Honse, of the home in Vienna; his daughter, Loretta Maples and husband, Don, of Springfield; two grandchildren, Jennifer Crawford and husband, Brian, and Aubrey Rippee and husband, Brett; five great-grandchildren, Alivia Grace Crawford, Jackson Dale Crawford, Harley Reese Crawford, Shayna Ivy Rippee, and Scarlett Ann Rippee; his brother, Allen Honse, of Vienna; sister, Joyce Ramsey and husband, Gabe, of Marshall, MO; sisters-in-law, Jean Honse, of Cluster City, OK, Vivian Honse, of Vienna, Elizabeth "Liz" Rowden and husband, Ron, of Vienna, Joyce Honse, of Vienna, Bonnie Cahill, of Vienna, and Debbie Backues, of Vienna.

Charles was preceded in death by his son, Dale Charles Honse, on January 5, 1996; one granddaughter, Shanna Renee Maples, on November 5, 1977; his father, Clyde, on December 1, 1991; his mother, Mabel, on January 26, 2005; six brothers, Harold Clyde Honse on April 15, 2016, and wife, Jewell Marie (Opperman) Honse on March 21, 2006; Lowell Pete Honse on December 21, 1999; Donald Eugene Honse on October 20, 2007, and wife, Mary Mildred "Millie" (Zimmer) Honse on October 15, 2010; Robert Leroy Honse on  June 4, 1996, and wife, Joan (Hutchison) Honse on January 25, 1971; Edwin Wesley Honse on September 26, 2006; and Forrest Roger Honse on November 18, 2020; brothers-in-law, Jesse Cahill on January 30, 1998; Leslie Backues on December 30, 1986, and wife Beulah on October 9, 2005; and Gene Backues on February 28, 2002.

Visitation for Charles Richard Honse will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2022, Birmingham- Martin Funeral Chapel, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, MO 65582, with his funeral service following in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Lane officiating, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Interment for Mr. Honse will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery with Doug Cahill, Les Hutchison, Paul Honse, Justin Darr, Tommy Honse and Matt Prenger serving as his pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Honse are Don Maples, Brian Crawford, Brett Rippee, Jackson Crawford, Alivia Crawford, Harley Crawford, Shayna Rippee, Scarlett Rippee, Jacob Cahill, Nathanial Cahill, Dennis Hutchison, and Scott Dake.

Memorial contributions in memory of Charles Richard Honse are suggested by his family to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept 495, Memphis, TN 38101-9801, envelopes will be available at the funeral home or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582.
