Obituary

John Clinton McMinn, age 95, of Rolla, was born April 3, 1928, in Maries County, Missouri, a son of Fred and Tina (Terwilliger) McMinn, and passed from this life, Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Oak Point of Rolla, Rolla, Missouri.

On November 9, 1951, at St. Louis, Missouri, Clinton was drafted into active federal service in the United States ARMY and served until October 9, 1953, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant. A man of excellent character and a Korean War Veteran, Clinton's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimony of selfless and faithful service to his country.

He was united in marriage January 29, 1950, in Rolla, Missouri, to Dorothy Irene O'Haver, who preceded him in death on May 6, 2021.

The family attended Bellvue Church, near Rolla, and after accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior early in life, Clinton and Dorothy were baptized the same day in the baptistry of First Christian Church, Rolla. Clinton was member of the MFA organization and served on the Coffman School schoolboard.

After serving in the United States ARMY, Clinton continued his working career as a meat cutter for 45 years and at the time of his retirement was the co-owner of the Cowans IGA, Rolla, Missouri.

Those left to mourn the passing of Clinton include: two daughters, Patricia A. Harris (Dennis), Rolla; and Linda Sue Hays (Shorty), Vienna; six grandchildren, Hollie Caupp, Kirkwood; Sara Hays, Vienna; Adam Hays (Kacey), Vienna; Rebecca Anciso (Tim), Red Lion, PA; Jacob Thompson (Lena), Ozark; and Michael Thompson (Megan), Durant, OK; six great-grandchildren, Braeden Caupp, Greyson Caupp, Jovie Hays, Callie Hays, Micah Anciso, and Ean Anciso; son-in-law, David Thompson, Carson City, NV; brother, Robert McMinn, Vichy; sister, Nina Barks, Bakersfield, CA; beloved uncle to many; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Kay Thompson, on January 19, 2013; his father, Fred McMinn, on September 21, 1964; his mother, Tina McMinn, on December 23, 1979; his siblings, Mary Blackwell, Allie Prewett, Lucy Spencer, Virgie Maxwell, Margie Davis, and his infant sister, Ruby McMinn; and numerous friends.

Visitation for Clinton will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 406 S. Main Street, Vienna, Mo, with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Chris Slocum officiating, followed by full military honors, all at the Vienna chapel.

Inurnment will be in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens, Rolla, MO, at later date. Honorary pallbearers for Clinton are his grandsons and great-grandsons Adam Hays, Jacob Thompson, Michael Thompson, Braeden Caupp, Greyson Caupp, Micah Anciso, and Ean Anciso.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Mr. Clinton McMinn are suggested by his family to the restoration of the McMinn School House in care of Linda Hays with envelopes available at the funeral home the day of service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582.
