Darlene Joyce Schmidt, of Dixon, was born on June 26, 1937, near San Jose, California, a daughter of Lester M. and Frances L. (Rugado) Schmidt, and departed this life at 3:40 p.m., on Saturday, August 3, 2013, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon. She had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 76 years, 1 month, and 8 days.

During her adult life, Darlene had been a volunteer care giver at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, for seven years. She was a devoted homemaker for her family and was always diligent in providing for their needs. Activities Darlene especially enjoyed were gardening, decorating her home, and preparing meals for her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Darlene include: Two sons, Brian McNulty and his wife, Sherry, and Bruce McNulty, all of Dixon; four grandchildren, Jessica, Chris, Rebecca Lynn, and Megan Nicole; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Schmidt and his wife, Deanna, Lewiston, California; and other relatives and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by two infant grandsons; one infant granddaughter, Nicole Rose McNulty on January 14, 2005; her parents; and one sister, Bonnie Gomer.

The way Darlene lived and interacted with others was the best tribute anyone could have for their life. Fond and precious memories will always be remembered in the hearts of her dear family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
