David A.
Schwartze
Aug 15, 1948 — Aug 24, 2021
David Alfred Schwartze, age 73, of Vienna, was born August 15, 1948, a son of Alfred Francis and Anna Josephine (Falter) Schwartze, and passed from this life Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in Silverstone Place, Rolla.
David was born on the family farm near Vienna. He attended Visitation School and graduated from Vienna High School in 1966. He was always proud that he graduated as the only boy in the top ten of the class that year. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State, Springfield, in 1970, with a degree in finance, the first person in his family to go to college.
Dave was in ROTC and was a Lieutenant in the Army. He was stationed in El Paso, Texas, and after his discharge, he attended the University of Missouri Law School, Columbia. After graduating with a law degree in 1973, he worked for the Missouri Division of Finance and Department of Social Services.
When Harold Hutchison, Maries County Prosecuting Attorney, died January 17, 1976, while in office, David was appointed by then Governor Christopher S. Bond to take his place. He ran for that office in 1976 and won. Dave was a part-time prosecutor and had a busy civil practice involving banking, real estate, domestic and all problems people in a small county might have. He always tried to serve the community of Maries County, the home he loved.
He married Terry Daley in 1981. In 1983, he was involved in a horrific auto accident and was permanently mentally and physically disabled. He lived as contented as a person in his situation could be for 35 years at his home south of Vienna, enjoying food, television, laughing, coffee, and a beer now and then.
David was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna, the Vienna Lions Club, and the Missouri State Bar Association, Jefferson City. His contributions to the community and to his family and friends have not and will not be forgotten.
David is survived by his wife, Terry, of the home near Vienna; his son, Christopher James Schwartze, and his wife, Nicole, of Toronto, Canada; his granddaughter, Aurora Jane Schwartze; his siblings, Bernard (Marcella) Schwartze of Jefferson City, Martin (Terry) Schwartze of Holts Summit, Betty Ann (Kenneth) Holtmeyer of St. Charles, Mary Jane (Larry) Luebbering of Jefferson City, and Daniel (Rita) Schwartze of Vienna; nephews, nieces, with greats and great-greats as well; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred (9-2-1990); his mother, Anna (3-22-2008); and three brothers, James Alphonse Schwartze (5-7-1968), Frederick John Schwartze (11-18-2013), and Alvin Joseph Schwartze (12-9-2017).
