Obituary

Dawn Maria York, of Dixon, was born December 19, 1960, at Wyandotte, Michigan, a daughter of Arthur R. "Art" and Bonnie Z. (Morrow) Romanowski, and departed this life Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at her residence. Dawn had attained the age of 60 years, 2 months, and 21 days.

Mrs. York was united in marriage on May 3, 1997, at Dixon, to Douglas William York.

Dawn accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and followed Him in baptism early in life. She graduated from Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, with a teaching degree in special education, and during her working life, had taught at both St. James and Dixon. Dawn was an avid reader, enjoyed needle crafts, and watching romance and John Wayne movies, as well as being a devoted housewife and homemaker.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. York include: Her husband, Douglas, of the home near Dixon; son, Steven York (Sandra), St. Louis; two grandchildren, Steve York and Emily York, both of St. Louis; her father, Art Romanowski, Dexter; siblings, Art Romanowski, state of Iowa; Walter "Ricky" Romanowski, state of Texas; Donna Romanowski, Newburg; and Chris Romanowski, Dixon; one brother-in-law, Darrel York, Salem; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie, on February 3, 2019, and one sister-in-law, Earlene (Groves) York, on December 1, 2019.

Visitation for Mrs. Dawn York will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2021, and from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2021, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with her funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Donald Leggett, DMI officiating.

Interment will be in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. York will be Christian Romanowski, Nathan Romanowski, Dustin Sutter, Tim Cain, Steve York, Steven York, and Roger Morrow, and her honorary pallbearers will be Darrel York and Ricky Romanowski
