Obituary

Debra Louise Ferguson was born to Kenneth and Louise Forrest on August 3, 1955, at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. She departed this life surrounded by family after a courageous battle with endometrial cancer on July 25, 2015, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Debbie was a world traveler from an early age, living in several states before graduating from Dixon High School in 1973. On July 10, 1981, Debbie married Paul at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and continued her travels as a military spouse. She lived in Germany, Italy, and numerous states across the United States. She and Paul led their family on adventures throughout Europe, instilling an appreciation for history and culture in her children. Debbie finally settled in Belton, Missouri, to be near their children and grandchildren.

She was a member of Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pulaski County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4238, Dixon.

Debbie will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity and strength. She found great joy just being with her family and friends. In fact, everyone who came into her life was like family. She loved to crochet and embroider, and every child she knew could count on a handmade afghan or quilt. She turned the simplest things into a grand adventure--especially for her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Those left to celebrate the life of Debbie include: Her husband Paul; her children Joseph and Pamela Ferguson, John and Catrina Ferguson and Laura and Robert Warren; her grandchildren Jimmy (Alyssa), Tyler, Nicole, Dylan, Alyssa and Logan; her great-grandson Johnathan; her parents Ken & Louise Forrest; her sisters Sue (Cliff) Lewallen, Cathy Ethington, Patty (Gary) Bowman; her watchdog Sonny; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Debbie were conducted for Debbie at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday morning, July 29, 2015, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes at 105 East Third Street with Rev. Tom Maples, Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers will be Albert Finney, Mike Bennett, Craig Rivera, Randy Sharp, Jesse Vance, and Ray Jones.
