Obituary

Delores Jean Bailey, of Meridian, Mississippi, formerly of Dixon, was born on November 28, 1966, at Rolla, a daughter of James Dovel and Cora Alice (Rutherford) Bailey, and departed this life on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in the Anderson Hospital, Meridian, Mississippi. She had attained the age of 51 years, 8 months, and 4 days.

Delores accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior early in life and had followed her Lord and Savior in baptism.  She grew up in Dixon and was a member of the High Point Church of God where her father was the Pastor.  Delores enjoyed learning and attended the Dixon R-1 Schools and was a 1985 graduate of the Dixon High School being the Valedictorian of her class.  Following her graduation, she attended college and obtained her degree before embarking on her career of music, ministry, and missions.  At the time of her death, Delores was the Pastor of the Shady Grove Church of God Church, near Meridian, where she had served as Minister of Music as well. She especially enjoyed listening to music and singing. During her illness, she spent time with friends and loved ones singing her favorite songs.

Those left to mourn the passing of Delores include:  Her beloved parents, Rev. James D. and Alice Bailey, of Dixon;  her aunt, Mable Seipel of the state of Missouri; her uncles, Elmer Bailey and wife, Phyllis, of Nixa, Missouri, and Marion Bailey and wife, Eddalynn, of Keerville, Texas; numerous cousins; other relatives; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Bailey, on February 25, 1987; her paternal grandparents; and her maternal grandparents.

Visitation for Delores Jean Bailey will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 6, 2018, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri  65459.

Funeral services for Delores Jean Bailey will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri  65459, with Bro. Rodney Briscoe of West Frankfort, Illinois, officiating.

Interment will be next to her dear sister, Mary Ellen, in the Dixon Cemetery, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon.
