Obituary

Dorothy Lorene Bowman Jeffery, of Iberia, was born April 5, 1922, near Dixon, in Miller County, a daughter of Everett Alonzo and Emma Ellen (Wilson) Bolien, and departed this life at 7:45 a.m., on Thursday evening, November 26, 2015, in the Ozark Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Osage Beach. Dorothy had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
Dorothy was first united in marriage on June 23, 1941, at Lebanon, to Henry Ford Bowman, who preceded her in death on March 25, 1968. She was later united in marriage on January 14, 1971, at Dixon, to Glen Jeffery, who also preceded her in death in September of 1975. In addition to her husbands Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Everett, on July 15, 1971; her mother, Emma, on November 23, 1956; and her brothers and sisters, Marjorie, Lois, James, Ellis, Carles, Everett, Jr., Harvey, Judith, Dallas, and Roy.
Dorothy was a member of the Gasconade Baptist Church, near Dixon, and had been baptized early in life. She was an avid bowler and had participated in the Missouri State Seniors Bowling Tournament for over 25 years. Dorothy enjoyed dancing at the VFW especially the waltz. Other activities she enjoyed, included gardening, quilting, and being with her grandkids. Dorothy was first employed, at the age of 14, as a care giver and housekeeper and later as a pie baker at the Greyhound Bus Station in Waynesville. During her working life, she had also been employed at the Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, in the fancy-stitch department for 25 years retiring in 1987. Dorothy had also graduated from cosmetology school and was a licensed beautician.
Those left to mourn the passing of Dorothy include: Four daughters, Pasty Bowman, Iberia; Maridonna and Val Emmett, Chester, Virginia; Joyce and Jim Simpson, Stockbridge, Georgia; Ellen "Ellie" and Jim Jones, Camdenton; two specials nieces, Kathy Jacobs and Emma Hardin both of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Gretta Bolien, Mt. Vernon; and Mae Bolien, Pahrump, Nevada; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
