Dorothy Eileen Jones, of Dixon, was born on October 13, 1922, near Dixon, in Maries County, a daughter of Clay and Mayme Ellen (Nichols) Jones, and departed this life at 5:40 p.m., on Monday evening, June 22, 2015, in the Golden Living Center New Haven, Odessa. Mrs. Jones had attained the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 9 days.
She was united in marriage on March 25, 1946, at Waynesville, to Victor Loyal Jones, and to this union, two daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, on December 15, 1992; her father, Clay, on August 26, 1977; her mother, Mayme, on February 21, 1934; one son-in-law, Paul Hokanson, on June 5, 2010; one sister-in-law, Sally Jones, on January 28, 2009; and two brothers-in-law, Don Cartwright and Frank Null.
Mrs. Jones accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and followed him in baptism at the age of 13 while attending the Dixon United Methodist Church. She later became a member of the Santee Community Church where she served until her death. Mrs. Jones was a 1940 graduate of the Dixon High School. She began working at the Post Exchange during the early days of Fort Leonard Wood, and worked at several businesses in Dixon, including Brown Shoe Company for eight years, was a cook for the Dixon R-1 School System for two years, and was a funeral assistant for the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes for over twenty-seven years. Mrs. Jones was a devoted housewife and homemaker, and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Jones include: Two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Hokanson, Odessa; and Vickie and Jeff Annas, Granite Falls, North Carolina; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Junior Ralph Jones, Dixon; and Dempsey Jones and wife, Naomi, Belle; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Allee and husband, Archie, Lebanon; and Helen Cartwright, Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren, Paula Cisco and husband, Lewis; Peter Hokanson and wife, Debbie; Shannon Spears and husband, Jon; and Jamie Annas; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Katy Hokanson; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Jones at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday morning, June 27, 2015, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Jerry Dooley and the Rev. Ron Hershberger officiating.
Interment was in the Seaton Cemetery, Dixon, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Jones were Lewis Cisco, Peter Hokanson, Rick Sisco, Mark Jones, Dustin Doyle, and Eddie Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Annas and Wayne Sloan.
