Obituary

Dorothy Regina Massman, of Westphalia, formerly of Argyle, was born on May 31, 1923, at Argyle, in Maries County, a daughter of Louis Joseph and Gertrude Frances (Eichholz) Wieberg, and departed this life at 6:08 p.m., on Sunday, December 6, 2020, in StoneBridge Westphalia, where she had lived since June 11, 2007. Mrs. Massman had attained the age of 97 years, 6 months, and 6 days.

She was united in marriage on October 6, 1945, at Argyle, to Albert Henry Massman, and to this union, seven children were born.

Mrs. Massman was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 2047, both in Argyle. During her working life, Mrs. Massman had been employed at the Langenberg Hat Company, Vienna; the Garment Company, Meta; and as the cook for the Argyle Grade School, Argyle, prior to her retirement, and always being a devoted housewife and homemaker to her family. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidering, cooking, and baking.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Massman include: Six children, Gene Massman, Folk; Nancy Tomberlin, Topeka, Kansas; Helen Bax (Warren Haslag), Linn; Dale Massman (Maranda), Argyle; Connie Buhr (John), Bonnots Mill; and Dennis Massman, Jefferson City; thirteen grandchildren, Travis Massman (Casey), Jefferson City; Mark Bolden, Topeka, Kansas; Jonathan Bolden, Fulton; Tracy Bax (Stacy), Loose Creek; Scotty Douglas Bax, deceased November 21, 2012, (Arlene Loothen, Overland Park, Kansas); Timothy Welschmeyer (Mandy), Wainwright; Vicki Welschmeyer, Wainwright; Brent Dale Massman, deceased December 28, 2014; Brooke Schneiders (Chris) Westphalia; Kimberly Hentges (Levi), Cody Borgmeyer (Carson), and Tanner Buhr, all of Bonnots Mill; and Whitley Langkop (Austin), Jamestown; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister, Zita Tappel, Koeltztown; nephews, nieces, with greats and great-greats as well; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her two grandsons, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, on April 21, 1985; one daughter, Alberta Welschmeyer, in 1995; her father, Louis, on October 3, 1957; her mother, Gertrude, on September 9, 1989; siblings, Roman Wieberg on April 5, 1979, Mary Stratman on May 8, 2001 (Leo on February 17, 1988), Alma Dette on August 11, 1986 (Raymond on June 14, 2012), Tobias "Toby" Wieberg on December 12, 1996 (Delores on May 10, 1990), Freda Kampeter on December 19, 2016 (Clarence on September 8, 2016), and Louis "Lee" Wieberg on April 14, 2013 (Mary on June 25, 2016); and sons-in-law, Tom Borgmeyer on October 27, 1992, Randy Bax on July 26, 1998, and Victor Welschmeyer in 2016.

All attending the private visitation and funeral Mass for Mrs. Dorothy Massman are required to wear personal masks or other personal protective equipment, follow social distancing and close contact guidelines, and adhere to COVID-19 protocol.

Private  visitation and Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Dorothy Regina Massman will be held, on Thursday, December 10, 2020, in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, One Church Lane, Argyle, Missouri 65001, with the Rev. Anthony J. Viviano as the celebrant, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Interment will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Argyle, by Birmingham-Martin in Vienna. Pallbearers for Mrs. Massman will be grandsons, Travis Massman, Mark Bolden, Tracy Bax, Timothy Welschmeyer, Cody Borgmeyer, and Tanner Buhr. Mrs. Massman's other grandchildren will serve as her honorary pallbearers: Jonathan Bolden, Scotty Bax-Deceased, Vicki Welschmeyer, Brent Massman-Deceased, Brooke Schneiders, Kimberly Hentges, and Whitley Langkop.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Dorothy Regina Massman are suggested by her family to be used for Masses with envelopes available at the St. Aloysius Church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
