Dustin Thomas Evans, of Knob Noster, formerly of Vienna, was born on February 22, 1984, a son of Thomas Dale and Denise Lynne (McKinney) Evans, and departed this life on Thursday, November 6, 2014, as he was being flown from the scene of a fall while doing roofing work at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster to the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics, Columbia, for treatment. He was pronounced at 2:16 p.m. at Columbia and had attained the age of 30 years, 8 months, and 14 days.
Dustin had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior and had followed his Lord in baptism. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Volunteer Fire Department, and a graduate of the Maries R-1 High School, all in Vienna. Activities Dustin especially enjoyed were being a Dad, fishing, hunting, looking for arrowheads (like his grandpa, Jim McKinney), playing washers, and coaching boys' basketball.
During his working life, Dustin had been employed by the Fick Distributing Company, Vienna, for ten years and working part time at Crossroads Convenience Store, prior to his employment with Midwest Roofing, LLC, headquartered out of Rapid City, South Dakota, where he had become a master roofer. The company was currently doing contract roofing work at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster.
Dustin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim McKinney and Darlene McKinney French; his paternal grandfather, William M. Evans; his paternal uncle, Gary Lynn Evans; and a paternal first cousin, Jason Boruff.
Those left to mourn the passing of Dustin include: Two sons, Keetyn James Evans and Micah Jay Evans, both of the home in Knob Noster; girlfriend and mother of his children, Logan Lee Stone, of the home in Knob Noster; his mother, Denise Evans, Vienna, and fiancé , J.R. Beals, Hamilton, Iowa; his father, Thomas Evans, Merrillville, Indiana; his brother, Colby Harding Evans, Eugene; one niece, Tenley Dawn Evans, Eugene; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Evans, Merrillville, Indiana; uncles; aunts; cousins; and a countless number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were conducted for Dustin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in the First Baptist Church, Vienna, with Rev. Michael Hurtgen officiating.
Interment with fireman honors was in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers were Chad James, Chase Lenning, Dusty Redel, Jacob Schwartze, Tommy Pickering, Mark Honse, Tommy Haller, and Tyler Schwartze. Honorary pallbearers were Cary Miller, Scott Meloy, Neal Femmer, Jamey Snodgrass, and Shane Evans.
