Earl William VanScoy, 87, of Dixon, MO, passed away on March 5, 2022.
Earl was born on June 28, 1934 to Jacob and Dorothy (Corwin) VanScoy in Newark Valley, NY. On March 8, 1954, Earl entered the United States Army where he served three years and eight months. A Korean War veteran, Earl was honorably discharged as an E5.
Earl married Wanda Doyle on March 1, 1958 in Dixon, MO and they had four children. Earl owned and operated Sinclair Service Station and Warehouse Tire serving the community of Dixon for many years. He served on the board of the MFA in Dixon, was president of the Khoury League and a baseball coach for seven years. Earl was an active member in the community, giving his time and support to raise money for local causes such as Band Boosters. Earl loved his farm and raising cattle.
Earl was a member of Seaton Faith Fellowship Church and was baptized in the Gasconade river on July 21, 2013.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother Harold VanScoy. He is survived by his wife, Wanda, and their four children, Brenda (Jeff) Ridgeway of Dixon, MO, Linda (Bob) Wagoner of St. Peters, MO, Duane (Donna) VanScoy of Vienna, MO and Glenda (Tony) Emmons of Dixon, MO; daughter Cindy Baldwin of La Crescent, MN; grandchildren Kristie Ridgeway, Will Wagoner, Jason Wagoner, Stacie (Matt) Wieberg, Sarah (Josh) Stover, John (Sydney) Emmons, Dakota Emmons, Taylor VanScoy, Cole (Kyzee) Emmons, Claire VanScoy, Bayrd VanScoy, Nicole Veglahn, Andrea Baldwin, and Lucas Baldwin; and great-grandchildren Maverick Stover, Nora Wagoner, Carter Stover, Alden Wagoner, Kamryn Wagoner-Stover, Brayden Wieberg, Andrew VanScoy, John Veglahn, Lacey Sletten, Katie Veglahn; and brother Donald VanScoy of Owego, NY.
Services will be held at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 10, 2022, between 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be March 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon.
