Edmund John Wieberg, of Argyle, was born on October 3, 1931, at Argyle, a son of Fritz Joseph and Catherine Cecilia (Brunnert) Wieberg, and departed this life at 1:03 p.m., on Thursday, July 19, 2018, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. He had attained the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 16 days.
Ed was united in marriage on September 3, 1960, at Argyle, to the former Miss Bernadine Wilhelmina Falter, and to this union, six children were born.
On July 10, 1952, at St. Louis, he entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until June 8, 1954, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, at the rank of Corporal. During his military career, Ed was assigned to Battery C 663d FA Battalion, attended the Auto Maintenance Service School, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and was entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal. A man of excellent character, Edmund's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.
He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2047, both in Argyle. During his working life, Ed had been employed by the Vic Wulff Charcoal Kilns, the Rock Island Railroad Company, and the McDonnell Douglas Corporation, St. Louis, as well as being a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working the land, and spending time with his family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Wieberg include: His devoted wife of almost fifty-eight years, Bernadine Wieberg, of the home in Argyle; his children, Marvin John Wieberg and wife, Barb, of Koeltztown; Joyce Marie Brunnert, and husband, James, of Argyle; Philip Henry Wieberg, and wife, Mary Lynn, of Argyle; Brenda Catherine John, and husband, Chris, of Vienna; Norma Lee Agnes Schulte and husband, Michael, of Argyle; and Kevin Fred Wieberg and wife, Jenny, of Argyle; one brother, Urban Wieberg and wife, Frances, of Argyle; one sister, Helen Marie Copeland, of O'Fallon; twenty grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fritz, on November 13, 1984; his mother, Catherine, on January 7, 1965; one infant grandson, Anthony James Brunnert, on July 27, 2003; five brothers, Mathias Wieberg, at the age of 4 years, on February 19, 1939; James Wieberg on March 30, 2000; Ildephonse Wieberg on July 1, 2002; Albert Joseph Wieberg on June 27, 2003; and John Wieberg on January 11, 2006; and three sisters, Ermina Dickens on July 14, 1988; Rita Payne on September 25, 2006; and Veronica McCormick on August 17, 2015
