Obituary

Edwin Bernard Brunnert, of Argyle, was born on August 11, 1928, at Argyle, a son of Philip Joseph and Regina Frances (Luebbert) Brunnert, and departed this life at 8:35 a.m., on Friday, February 15, 2019, in the Missouri Veterans home, St. James, where he had been a resident since November 28, 2018.  He had attained the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 4 days.

On October 9, 1951, at St. Louis, Edwin entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until July 8, 1953, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.  During his military service, Edwin's primary duties were attached to the Aviation Engineers building bridges and roads.  A man of excellent character, Edwin's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country during the Korean Conflict.

Edwin was a graduate of the Argyle/St. Aloysius School and was a lifelong member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle.  He was also a devoted member of the Argyle Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America Post 8045 and the Argyle Knights of Columbus Council 2047.

Prior to his entering the military, Edwin had worked in farming and as a general farmhand for his father, Philip Brunnert.  After serving in the military, he returned to farming, trading, working as a Watkins Products representative, and always striving to be a positive influence in his hometown and county.   Edwin served on the Argyle Town Board and helped to obtain and implement the new Argyle water and sewer system.   He was also a member fireman of the Argyle Volunteer Fire Department and was elected and served as an Osage County Commissioner.   Edwin never did really retire and just kept being active in the VFW and the Knights of Columbus, selling Watkins, overcoming adverse situations in his life, and taking care of his beloved dogs, Goldie and Teddy, as long as he could.

Those left to mourn the passing of Edwin include:  A brother, Eugene "Gene" Brunnert (Elaine), Cheyenne, Oklahoma; a sister, Dolores Brunnert, Thornton, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Mary Brunnert, Mustang, Oklahoma, and Katie Brunnert, Argyle; nephews; nieces; cousins; other relatives; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip, on October 4, 1968; his mother, Regina, on February 25, 1982; siblings, William Brunnert (LaVon) on July 12, 1974, Louis J.
