Elizabeth Gertrude "Betty" Faust, of Freeburg, was born February 3, 1931, at Carroll, Iowa, a daughter of Edward and Mary Catherine (Scharfenkamp) Simons, and departed this life at 10:30 p.m., on Sunday evening, November 8, 2015, at Westphalia Hills. Betty had attained the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 5 days.
Betty was united in marriage on April 2, 1966, in Iowa, to Wilbur Cecil Faust. She was preceded in death by one son, James Wheeler; two brothers, Larry Simons, and Andrew Simons; and three sisters, Lorraine Pawletzki, Rita Meister, and Mary Catherine Simons.
She was baptized into the Catholic faith early in life while living in Iowa. After moving to Freeburg, Betty had been employed at Quaker Window Products for two years, was a devoted housewife and homemaker and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. She enjoyed collecting Avon decanters, chicken and giraffe figurines, and reading.
Those left to mourn the passing of Betty include: her husband, Cecil of the home; two daughters, Charlotte Wheeler, Vienna; and Michelle Godron, Jefferson City; five brothers, Vincent Simons, Winterset, Iowa; Leonard Simons, Yale, Iowa; Edward Simons, Des Moines, Iowa; Leroy Simons, Van Meter, Iowa; and Eugene Simons, Casey, Iowa; one sister, Bernidine Burke, Madrid, Iowa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be for Mrs. Faust from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., on Friday, November 13, 2015, with a funeral service following at 10:00 a.m., all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg.
Interment will be in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers for Mrs. Faust will be Kalieb Haslag, Allen Smith, Cody Wheeler, Eugene Bunch, Jacob Wheeler, and Jordan Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Gypsy Smith, Haven Smith, Cloe Bunch, Emma Wheeler, Noah Wheeler, Amber Smith, Bowen Smith, Jeremiah Wheeler, and Daneka Wheeler.
Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Holy Family Church, Freeburg or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
