Elizabeth Marie "Liz" Stratman, age 94, of Freeburg, was born September 2, 1929, in Freeburg, MO, a daughter of Henry John and Gertrude Ann (Richter) Struemph, and passed from this life on Monday, August 26, 2024, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City, MO, surrounded by her loving family.

She was united in marriage on May 30, 1950, in Freeburg, to Herbert Henry "Herb" Stratman, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2005.

Mrs. Stratman was a faithful member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, where she sang in the adult choir, and was member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 317, Freeburg. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, homemaker, and friend who enjoyed gambling, playing cards, baking sugar cookies, cooking, and especially picking up her grandchildren from school.

During her working life, Mrs. Stratman worked as a switch board operator for Southwestern Bell, was a screener for Quaker Windows, however her favorite job was being a cook at the Holy Family Catholic School, until she retired in 1991.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Stratman include: her two sons, Danny Stratman and wife, Sherri, Freeburg, and Kenny Stratman, Vichy; three daughters, Karen Beck and husband, Keith, Freeburg, Becky Stratman, Overland Park, Kansas, and Lisa Bexten and husband, Dennis, Freeburg; seven grandchildren, Carson Bexten, Claire Bexten, Kristi "Beck" Brune, Craig Beck, Brent Stratman, Beth White, and Kendall Stratman; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Janet Struemph, State of Nevada; nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Herb, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kristen Stratman on April 21, 2019; her father, Henry on June 3, 1967; her mother, Gertrude on April 9, 1958; and her nine siblings, John "Honse" Struemph on November 12, 1977, Marie Ortbals on October 18, 1988, Loretta Klein on January 8, 1999, James "Jim" Struemph on December 6, 2019, Bernard "Bud" Struemph on March 23, 2002, Emil Struemph on November 1, 2007, Cecilia Schmitz on October 5, 2021, Theresa Buschman on September 5, 2022, and Catherine Wegman on February 18, 2022.

A Rosary prayer for Mrs. Elizabeth Stratman will be held at 8:30 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024, followed by a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, MO 65035, with Father William Debo as celebrant, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Interment for Mrs. Elizabeth Stratman will be beside her loving husband, Herb, in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg. Pallbearers for Mrs. Stratman will be Mark Becker, Carson Bexten, Brent Stratman, Harry Struemph, Jake Wegman, Craig Beck.
