Florentine Mary Schwartze, age 98, of Argyle, was born December 6, 1922, near Meta, in Maries County, a daughter of Henry Leo and Margaret Elizabeth (Wieberg) Steinman, and departed this life Monday, May 24, 2021, in StoneBridge Westphalia.

She was united in marriage November 22, 1947, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle, to Cletus John Schwartze, and to this union, nine children were born.

During her working life, Florentine was a devoted housewife and homemaker for her husband and family, and after her children were grown, she became a cook at Argyle Public School. She was well known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, and enjoyed quilting, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Schwartze include: Her nine children, Dan Schwartze, Blue Springs; John Schwartze, Holts Summit; Peggy (Rick) Sennott, Freeburg; Dorothy (Gary) Schechterly, O'Fallon; Tom (Amy) Schwartze, Russellville; Mary (Rick) Elliott, Tipton; Sam (Kerry) Schwartze, Flat Rock, Indiana; Ginger (Mike) Kloeppel, Westphalia; and Steve (Kat) Schwartze, St. Elizabeth; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, with greats, great-greats, and great-great-greats as well; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Florentine was preceded in death by: Her husband, Cletus (3-21-2012); her father, Henry (5-27-1957); her mother, Margaret (9-10-1972); her 6 brothers, Victor, Innocence, Cletus, Henry, Jr., Wilfred, and Sylvester Steinman; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Steinman age 14 months (3-12-1919), and Catherine Kimball.

The family of Mrs. Florentine Schwartze will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021, and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2021, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 1 Church Lane, Argyle, MO 65001, with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Anthony Viviano and Rev. Basil Tigga concelebrating the Mass and Deacon Steve Schwartze and Deacon Michael Brooks assisting, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Interment will be next to her beloved husband, Cletus, in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Argyle, with Lisa Romine, Evan Kloeppel, Ryan Kloeppel, Jamie Schwartze, Lucas Schwartze, Tara Hoelscher, Nathan Schwartze, Anthony Kloeppel, and David Lee Claxton serving as pallbearers for Mrs. Schwartze.

Immediately following the cemetery committal ceremony, the Schwartze family extends an invitation to all in attendance to share a meal with them in the V.F.W. Hall, 36776 Hwy T, Argyle, MO 65001.
