Frank Donley "Donnie" James, of Hardin, Illinois, formerly of Vienna, was born on June 10, 1934, near Vienna, in Maries County, a son of Martin "Mart" and Lucy Evaline (McDaniel) James, and departed this life on June 23, 2020, at his residence. He had attained the age of 86 years, and 13 days.

Growing up in Vienna, Donnie attended the Vienna United Methodist Church and was a 1951 graduate of the Vienna High School. He was on the basketball team during high school and continued playing in league basketball after his graduation. Donnie was a Cardinal Baseball season ticket holder for many years and enjoyed his bowling league, playing Poker, Golfing, a good game of Pool, and attending his grandkids' sporting events.

He served in the U.S. Army from November 26, 1956, until November 25, 1959. Donnie was in the Quartermaster Branch and was trained as a Clerk Typist. At the time of his "Honorable Discharge" at Fort Knox, Kentucky, he had attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class.

Donnie was united in marriage on May 2, 1959, at Vienna, to the former Miss Caroline Marie Volmert, and to this union, two daughters were born.

During his working life, he was owner and operator of his trucking business for fifty years prior to his retirement in 1998, continuing as a consultant to other trucking companies for several years before fully retiring.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. James include: Two daughters, Malissa Stephens (Edward), Golden Eagle, Illinois; and Holly Teahan (Jim), St. Peters, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Patricia Long (Dan), Lucy Stephens, Edward Stephens V, Nathan Stephens, Grace Stephens, Clayton Stephens, and Shannon Morris; three great-grandchildren, Stephen Long, Phillip Long, and James Long; and other relatives and friends.

Family members preceding Mr. James in death include: His wife, Carrie, on February 7, 1999; his father, Mart, on April 4, 1981; his mother, Lucy, on March 27, 1977; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert M. "Bob" James (Irene), James Albert James (Elaine), and an infant brother on January 5, 1922.

Visitation for Mr. Frank Donley James will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., on Monday, June 29, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with his funeral service following at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Lynn Quist officiating.

Interment, with full military honors, will be next to his beloved wife, Carrie, in the James Community Cemetery, near Vienna, by Birmingham-Martin, Vienna.
