Obituary

Franklin David "Frank" Haberberger, of Dixon, was born on November 10, 1935, in Washington, a son of Aloysius Joseph and Audrey Marie (Martin) Haberberger, and departed this life at 7:59 p.m., on Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon. Frank had attained the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; one brother, Morris Lee Haberberger, on December 4, 1941; his step-father, Charles A. "Chuck" Darby; his paternal grandparents, David and Matilda (VonHoff) Haberberger; and his maternal grandparents, Levi and Minnie (Hickey) Martin.

Frank was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Liesmann-Roberts American Legion Post No. 298, both in Dixon. He had been active in helping with the Post 298 military honors team as long as he was able. Hunting and fishing were two activities Frank especially enjoyed during his life. On February 25, 1957, at Los Angeles, California, Frank entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until February 15, 1960, when he was honorably discharged at Los Angeles, California. A man of excellent character, his "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country. Frank lived in Los Angeles, California, until moving back to Dixon in June of 1979. He was employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections, as a mail clerk in the mail room at the main prison in Jefferson City, from September 24, 1979, until his retirement.

Those left mourn the passing of Frank include: Three aunts, L. Jane Lifer, Washington; Wanda and Jerry Milligan, Dixon; and Leona Martin, Washington; cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Frank at 11:00 a.m., on Monday morning, May 2, 2016, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home at 105 East Third Street with Pastor Ronald Davy of Bucyrus, Missouri, officiating.

Interment with full military honors by the Liesmann-Roberts American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon, were in the Wheeler Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home. Pallbearers were David Alexander, Danny Milligan, Brady Milligan, Mike Kisling, Neal Kisling, and Bill Hughes. Honorary pallbearers were Glen Alexander, Rick Kappelmann, Evert Marquart, Gary Thornhill, Craig French, Gary Kisling, Patrick Kappelmann, Danny Walsh, Heather Hodges, and Mark Shiner.
