Freda was born August 31, 1927, in Argyle, the daughter of Louis and Gertrude (Eichholz) Wieberg. Freda was married to Clarence J. Kampeter on June 16, 1948, in Argyle at the St. Aloysius Church by Father Schilling.
Freda was no stranger to hard work. Growing up on a farm in Maries County as one of eight children, Freda had her share of chores with milking the cows, tending the chickens, gardening, canning, making molasses, cooking and helping with butchering chickens, cattle and hogs.
Later in life after marrying, she brought all those skills to the farm she owned with her husband in Maries County, but which included much more-raising seven children. In 1963, she and her husband moved their family to the City of Argyle to a much larger home. Freda continued to be a stay-at-home mom, but after the children got older, she worked for Quaker Window Company, Freeburg and then worked as a cook for 17 years at the Argyle Public Schools, retiring from there. Many school students she cooked for praised the delicious meals she served and her kids and grandkids still claim she made the best spaghetti and pie in Osage County.
Freda enjoyed cooking, quilting, reading, playing cards, embroidery, family time and travel trips with her husband. She served her community as an auxiliary member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW, a 4-H leader and was a devout parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle.
