Obituary

Gary Lewis Null, age 73, of Dixon, was born March 21, 1950, in Arlington, Missouri, a son of Rudolph Lewis Null and Wilma Pearl (Sheldon) Massey, and passed from this life Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his residence.

On October 5, 1967, at St. Louis, Gary entered active federal service in the United States Army and served until April 5, 1972, when he was honorably discharged at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, at the rank of SP5.  A man of excellent character, Gary's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimony of selfless and faithful service to his country.

He was married April 5, 1969, to Lillian Devon Blanton, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2013.

During his working life, Gary was employed for the Pulaski County Road and Bridge Department prior to his retirement. He was baptized early in life, and was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing jokes on people.

Those left to celebrate the life of Gary include: his companion, Linda Hardesty-Null, of Dixon; his daughters, Shannon Bexten and husband Roger, of Dixon, Sandra "Sam" Null, of Dixon, Shelia Null, Dixon, and Sherry Null; brothers, Jack Null, of Bolivar, and C.J. Massey and wife, Kristie, of Dixon; sisters, Norma Ernst and husband, Ernie, of St. James, Brenda McCracken and husband, Jim, of St. James, Judy Elms, of Dixon, and Pam Massey and companion, Dustin, of Dixon; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Lillian, Gary was proceeded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Lewis Null, on October 19, 1976; two grandsons, Nash Maddox, and Austin Null; his father, Rudolph, on May 25, 1955, his parents, Wilma, on July 12, 2014, and Cecil Massey, on June 4, 1990; one sister, Katheryn Hoffman, on April 4, 2006, and his grandparents, David and Ellen Null.

A graveside service for Gary will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. (noon), at the Seaton Cemetery, Dixon.
