Gene Edward Dudley, of rural Dixon, was born on November 16, 1939, at St. Louis, the son of Albert Harry and Lulubelle (Sweeney) Dudley, and departed this life at 4:44 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2020, in SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City. He had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 17 days.

Gene was united in marriage on December 25, 2000, at Vienna, to the former Nancy Gayle Davis.

He was a 1957 graduate of Riverview Senior High School, St. Louis, where he excelled in track during his high school career. Gene was a 1961 graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia with an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had attended the Vienna United Methodist Church, was a member of the National Rifle Association, the National Republican Club, and his favorite activity being firing at local shooting ranges.

During his working life, Gene was employed by Southwestern Bell, St. Louis, as a Cost Efficiency Manager for 31 years, retiring in 1990, and moving to St. Anthony, where he operated an Angus ranch. In 1991, he received his Emergency Medical Technician license, and in 1995, was a fireman for the Iberia Volunteer Fire Department. In 1998, Gene received his Paramedic license and moved near Vienna the same year where he was employed by numerous ambulance districts until his full retirement.

Those left to mourn the passing of Gene include: his wife, Nancy, of the home near Vienna; his children, Jacqueline Nelson (Rocky), Stafford, Virginia, Sandra Walkup (Jerry), Eureka, and Karen Dudley, Rolla; his step-children, Shawn Davis (Hope), Fort Eustis, Virginia, Tabitha Scaggs, Dixon, and Joshua Witcher (Autumn), Scott City; his grandchildren, Brian Walkup, Mason Walkup, Timothy Nelson, Jeffery Nelson, and Matthew Nelson; his step grandchildren, Brian Scaggs and Sasha Scaggs; his great-grandchild, Genevieve Nelson; his sister, Mary Lou Geeke, St. Louis; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert, on January 17, 1995; his mother, Lulubelle, on November 11, 2004; and a step-grandson, DeVon Walton.

Visitation for Mr. Gene Edward Dudley will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Monday, June 1, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with his funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Lynn Quist, Vienna United Methodist Church, officiating.

A private disposition for Mr. Gene Edward Dudley will be held by his family. Honorary pallbearers for Gene will be Brian Walkup, Mason Walkup, Timothy Nelson, Jeffery Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Brian Scaggs, Sasha Scaggs, and Genevieve Nelson.
