George Leroy Thompson, of Dixon, was born on December 7, 1941, in Maries County, the son of George Lee and Vera Marie (Rowden) Thompson, and departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2019, in the Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach. Leroy had attained the age of 77 years, and 9 months.

He was united in marriage on September 5, 1964, at Dixon, to Connie Lyn Creamer, and to this union, two children were born.

Leroy worked in construction for all of his working life. Early on, he was a member of the Carpenter's Union out of Rolla, MO.  He worked as a carpenter in both St. Louis and the Dixon area and later on he worked as a superintendent for Cornerstone Construction out of Iowa until his retirement in 2010.   He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and had loved coaching both baseball and softball teams for his children and coaching his grandchildren from the sidelines.  Leroy enjoyed NASCAR racing and drag racing, as well as hunting and watching about any type of sports on television.

Those left to mourn his passing include: His wife of 55 years, Connie Thompson, of the home near Dixon; son, Brian Thompson and wife, Amy, Bolivar; daughter, Stephanie Plemmons and husband, Rick, Dixon; grandchildren, Erika Thompson, Delaney Plemmons, Alyson Thompson, Jaxon Thompson, and Cayce Luce and husband, Doug; great grandchildren, Madison McKinnon, and Chase Beardslee; sister, Joyce Wans, Rolla; mother-in-law, Charlsie Creamer, Dixon, sister-in-law, Kathleen Creamer, Dixon; nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, George, on October 2, 1993; his mother, Vera, on December 30, 2001; sister, Reba LaFollette, on May 24, 2008; his father-in-law, Rockford Creamer, on March 25, 2009; and brothers-in-law, Kent Creamer, on July 12, 1994, and Daniel LaFollette, on June 17, 1997.

Visitation for Leroy was held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home at 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with Rev. Jerry Dooley, Word of Faith Fellowship, Dixon, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon.  Pallbearers for Leroy were Rick Plemmons, Jeffrey Creamer, Neil Creamer, Brad Wans, Vincent Wans, and Tom Allen.  Honorary pallbearers were Jaxon Thompson, Junior Anderson, Dale Jones, Erika Thompson, Delaney Plemmons, and Alyson Thompson.
