Geraldine Dake, of rural Iberia, was born on November 17, 1930, at Iberia, a daughter of Owen Walton and Idella (Whittle) Barnett, and departed this life at 12:00 midnight, Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Dake had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 26 days.
Mrs. Dake was united in marriage on January 19, 1952, at Pickett, Arkansas, to William Howard Dake, and to this union, five children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 25, 2001; her father on October 28, 1984; her mother on April 15, 1994; three brothers, Earl Barnett, Elzie Barnett, and Jennings Barnett; and one sister, Imogene Riemensnider.
Mrs. Dake had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and followed her Lord in baptism early in life at the tender age of 13 years, and at the time of her passing, was a member of the First Christian Church, Iberia. Activities she especially enjoyed were quilting, crocheting, and embroidering. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Dake include: four sons and one daughter-in-law, Elton and Kerry Dake, Iberia; Doyle Dake, Fairfield, Colorado; Tony Dake, Napa, Idaho, and Terry Dake, Iberia; one daughter and son-in-law, Lora and Stanley Scarberry, Nashoba, Oklahoma; one brother, Wayne Barnett, Iberia; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Dake at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 16, 2013, in the First Christian Church, Iberia, with Pastor Stan Way officiating.
Interment was in the Union Cemetery near Iberia under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Dake were Tommy Dean Strutton, Randy Riemensnider, Dale Barnett, David Martin, Jr., Doyle Don Dake, Jr., and Trevor Ray Scarberry. Honorary pallbearer was Josh Hensley.
Memorial are suggested the First Christian Church, Iberia.
