Obituary

Harold Clyde Honse, of rural Vienna, was born on March 9, 1930, in Maries County, a son of Clyde Avery and Mabel (Frey) Honse, and departed this life at 1:01 a.m., Friday morning, April 15, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Honse had attained the age of 86 years, 1 month and 6 days.

Mr. Honse was united in marriage on August 26, 1950, at Rolla, to Jewell Marie Opperman and to this union, three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell, on March 21, 2006; his father, Clyde; on December 1, 1991; his mother, Mabel, on January 26, 2005; and four brothers, Donald Honse on October 20, 2007; Lowell Honse on December 21, 1999; Robert Honse on June 4, 1996; and Edwin Honse on September 26, 2006.

Mr. Honse was a United States Army veteran having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. A man of excellent character, Harold's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country. He was a founding member of the First Baptist Church, Vienna, a Deacon of the church; Training Union Director ; custodian; and janitor. Mr. Honse was a lifelong farmer in Maries County and one of the founding partners of Honse Implement Company in Vienna, having sold their first tractor in February 1950. He enjoyed playing solitaire and pitch; and fish fries at the implement company.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Honse include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Harold Dewayne Honse and Paul Eugene and Beverly Honse, all of Vienna; one daughter, Eva Elaine Darr, Jefferson City; three brothers, Charles (May) Honse; Allen (Barb) Honse and Forrest (Vivian) Honse, all of Vienna; one sister, Joyce (Gabe) Ramsey, Marshall; six grandchildren, Renee and Dwayne Maples, Wardsville; Justin and Cheri Darr, Vienna; Joe and Ginger Honse, Rolla; John and Angela Honse, Vienna; Zach and Ciara Honse, Vienna; and Cody and Sarah Honse, Springfield; eleven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kids Club of the Vienna First Baptist Church with envelopes available at the church or funeral home.
