Harry Delano Swarthout, of Vienna, was born on August 23, 1936, at Rolla, a son of Charley and Ethel May (Holman) Swarthout, and departed this life at 11:02 a.m., on Sunday, February 2, 2020, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.  He had attained the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Harry was a member of the Vienna Lions Club and the American Numismatic Association, Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coin collecting, and playing cards.

He was first employed by McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation for nine years, and then by Emerson Electric Company for twenty years, both in St. Louis, as a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator, prior to his retirement in 1981.  Harry later moved back to his hometown of Vienna, where he was the owner and operator of the Gold Nugget Rare Coins and Jewelry until his untimely passing.

Those left to mourn the passing of Harry include:  His children, Becky Swarthout Dancer and husband, Scott, of Evergreen, Colorado, Linda Swarthout Hicks and husband, Peter, of Scottsdale, Arizona, William Aaron Swarthout and wife, Amy Kate, of Edwardsville, Illinois, John Thomas Swarthout and wife, Terri, of Fenton, and Amy Lynn Swarthout of Florissant; Harry's grandchildren (Becky), Paul Dancer, Megan Dancer, Dakota Dancer, and Nicholas Dancer, and his great-grandson, Zayden Dancer; Harry's grandchildren (Linda), Ryan Ackerman, and Madeleine Hicks; Harry's grandchildren (William), Sophia Swarthout, Isabella Swarthout, and Olivia Swarthout; Harry's grandchildren (John),  Ethan Swarthout, Evan Swarthout, Brittany Bryan, Matthew Bryan, and Lauren Bryan, and his great-granddaughter, Joslynn Bryan; and Harry's granddaughter (Amy Lynn), Keaton Swarthout; his special friend and companion, Jewell Hart, of Vichy; his siblings, Marjorie "Alice" Holmes, Amy "Jean" Asher, Donald Louis "Don" Swarthout and wife, Wanda, and David Aaron "Dave" Swarthout and wife, Kay, all of Vienna; sister-in-law, Delores Swarthout, of Wellsville; nephews; nieces; great and great-great nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charley, on November 6, 1967; his mother, Ethel, on March 19, 1996; two brothers, Charles Swarthout on June 26, 1993, and Ned Thomas "Tom" Swarthout on November 29, 2011; two brothers-in-law, Ronald "Bud" Holmes on May 29, 2011, and William Hayes "Bill" Asher on April 10, 2019; and two nephews, Charles "Chuck" Swarthout, Jr. on January; 12, 1997, and Timothy Robert "Tim" Asher on July 2, 2010.

Visitation for Mr. Harry Delano Swarthout will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 6, 2020, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 7, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri  65582.

Funeral services for Mr. Harry Delano Swarthout will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 7, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri  65582, with Harry's good friend, the Rev. Matthew Flatley, Pastor of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Vienna, officiating.

Interment will be next to his mother and father in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pallbearers for Harry will be Scott Dancer, Megan Dancer, Nick Dancer, Ryan Ackerman, Steve Holmes, Ethan Swarthout, Evan Swarthout, and Tony Swarthout.
