Obituary

Helen Ruth Carter, age 89, of Dixon, was born January 29, 1933, at Dixon, a daughter of Perry Granvil and Ruth Hester (Creamer) Nelson and passed from this life peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at her residence.

She was united in marriage on June 13, 1950, at Dixon, to Arlie Lee Carter, and to this union, three daughters were born.

Helen was baptized early in life. She attended Dixon United Methodist Church through the years and at the time of her passing was attending Wheeler Church of Christ near Dixon. During her working life, Helen worked for Shelter Insurance, Dixon R-1 High School, and Fort Leonard Wood for the Non-Appropriated Funds until her retirement.  She enjoyed sewing, doing cross stitch, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to mourn the passing of Helen include:  her daughters, Diane Lick, Washington, Sandy Lumpkin (Larry), and Trish McCray (Scott), all of Dixon; eight grandchildren, Brian Lick (Amy), Steve Lick (Debbie), Jeni Fagre (Scott), Kevin Lick (Liz), Nicole Alexander (Jason), Michael Lumpkin, Matthew McCray (Julie), and Laura Jacobs (Josh); sixteen great-grandchildren, Marisa, Alex, John, Jacob, Madison, Savannah, Addison, Aubrey, Ayden, Malachi, Mathias, Milli, Owen, Blake, Perry, and Hayes; and one great-great-grandchild anticipated in March of 2023; one sister and brother-in-law, Vivian Thompson (Yarol), Dixon; nephews, nieces, with great and great-greats, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Carter; son-in-law, John Lick; her father Perry; her mother Ruth; two sisters, Fern Shockley (Clay) and Louise Skaggs (Argus); and her brother, Benjamin "Bennie" Nelson.

Visitation for Mrs. Helen Ruth Carter will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2023, and will continue from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Mo 65459, with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., with Kevin Rowden, Wheeler Church of Christ, Dixon, officiating.

Interment for Mrs. Carter will be beside her loving husband in Kenner Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.  Pallbearers for Mrs. Carter will be Brian Lick, Steve Lick, Kevin Lick, Michael Lumpkin, Matthew McCray, Jason Alexander, and Josh Jacobs

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Helen Ruth Carter are suggested by her family to the Kenner Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes at the funeral home or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Mo.
