Henry Anthony "Hank" Wansing, age 78, of Vienna, was born November 25, 1943, at Vienna, a son of Lawrence Francis and Margaret Christine (Schwartze) Wansing, and passed from this life Thursday, March 17, 2022, at his residence near Vienna.
He was united in marriage October 10, 1964, at Vienna, to the former Miss Mary Ellen Nelson, and to this union, five children were born.
Hank was a very active person in his hometown and community being a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 13578, and Vienna Lions Club, all in Vienna. He was a strong supporter and participant of the Vienna Senior Citizens Center, where he served on the Board of Directors and was usually chairperson of any fundraising project. Hank enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and especially volunteer work wherever he was needed.
During his working life, he was employed as Vice-President of Marketing for Footstar Shoe Corporation, Mahwah, New Jersey, for forty years, prior to his retiring in 2004 and moving back to Maries County for his retirement.
Those left to mourn the passing of Hank include: His wife, Mary, of their home near Vienna; four children, Susan Wansing (Russ Acker), Albany, California; Christine "Tina" Spellman (Eric), Huger, South Carolina; Rebecca Wansing (Matt Cafarello), Park Ridge, New Jersey; Michael Wansing, Vienna; nine grandchildren, Sophia, Christopher, Haley, Timothy, Margaret "Maggie", Ella, Shay, Nicole, and Carleigh; his brothers and sisters, Daniel Wansing (Marita), Dixon; Allan Wansing (Kathy), Chesterfield; and twins, James Wansing (Rebecca) and Janice Wieberg, both of Vienna; and Carol Steinman (Steve), Vienna; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hayes and Judy Yeary, both of Vienna, and Virginia Perry (Bob), Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Georgia Monzon (Louie), Anchorage, Alaska; nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, Stephen Nelson Wansing, on January 21, 1975; his father, Lawrence, on August 16, 1995; his mother, Margaret, on July 4, 2004; one infant sister, Susan Marie Wansing, on July 31, 1942; one brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Wieberg, on December 22, 2016; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Hayes on November 11. 2014, and James Yeary on May 1, 2009.
Visitation for Mr. Hank Wansing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022, and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2022, in Visitation Catholic Church, 105 North Main Street, Vienna, MO 65582, with his Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Basil Tigga and Rev. Matthew Flatley as concelebrants and Deacon John Schwartze assisting under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
Interment for Mr. Wansing will be in Visitation Cemetery, Vienna, by Birmingham-Martin, Vienna. Pallbearers for Hank will be Michael Wansing, Christopher Spellman, Timothy Spellman, Russ Acker, Eric Spellman, and Matthew Cafarello.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Hank Wansing are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes at church day of service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582
