Obituary

Henry Alvin Weed, of Vienna, was born on March 19, 1940, at Freeburg, a son of Dennis Joseph and Helena Catherine (Hawk) Weed, and departed this life at 6:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, in the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.  He had attained the age of 79 years, and 5 days.

Mr. Weed was united in marriage on July 20, 1963, at Freeburg, to Helen Gertrude Patten, and to this union, eleven children were born.

On May 6, 1963, Henry entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until May 5, 1965, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class.  A man of excellent character, Henry's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg.  Henry had worked at Quaker Window Company, Freeburg, for over seventeen years retiring in 2003.  He enjoyed hunting especially Coyote hunting, and fishing.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Weed include: His wife, Helen Weed, of the home in Vienna; six sons, Henry J. Weed, Jr., Vienna; Matthew John Weed and friend, Rhonda, Vienna; Charles Alvin Weed, and wife, Lisa, Dixon; Thomas William Weed and wife, Jackie, Freeburg; Jason Robert Weed and friend, Heather, Dixon; and Nicholas Steven Weed and wife, Angel, Dixon; four daughters, Kimberly Joann Thompson and husband, Kevin, Vienna; Gail Jean Weider, and husband, Gerald, Freeburg; Diane Lynn Monroe and husband, Robert, California; and Kathy Kay Otto and husband, Jim. Argyle; three brothers, Robert Weed and wife, Ruby, Eldon; John Weed and wife, Elsie, Chamois; and William Weed and wife, Nancy, Ashland; one sister Mary Werdehausen, Holt Summit; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Weed was preceded in death by one son, Jerome William Weed on October 21, 2007; his father, Dennis on June 21, 2003; his mother, Helena on August 4, 1997; three brothers, Charles Weed on July 14, 1962; Everett Weed on July 31, 2010; and Leonard Weed at age 3 months; and one sister, Rose Horn.

Visitation for Mr. Weed will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Monday, April 8, 2019, a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. William D. Debo leading, all in the  Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, followed by full military honors.

Private interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, honorary pallbearers will be his children, Henry Weed, Jr., Matthew Weed, Charles Weed, Thomas Weed, Jason Weed, Nicholas Weed, Kimberly Thompson, Gail Weider, Diane Monroe, Kathy Otto, and the late Jerome Weed.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Henry Weed are suggested by his family for Masses or the Holy Family School, Freeburg, with envelopes available at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
