Obituary

Holmes Frederic Boroughf, of Brentwood, was born July 20, 1938, in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, a son of Arthur Wade and Carolyn Lavenia (Cottrell) Boroughf, and departed this life Tuesday, March 11, 2021, in Bethesda Dilworth Nursing Home, St. Louis. He had attained the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 22 days.

Mr. Boroughf entered the United States Coast Guard May 6, 1959, at St. Louis, Missouri, and served until his honorable discharge at the Coast Guard Training Station, Groton, Connecticut, at the rank SA (E-2). Beginning on November 3, 1959, he was transferred to the Second Coast Guard District, St. Louis, and served in the Coast Guard Reserve until February 12, 1967. His "Honorable Discharge" is a testament of patriotic service to his country.

Mr. Boroughf was united in marriage on July 1, 1966, in Kenner Church of God, Dixon, to the former Miss Carolyn Sue Jennings, and to this union, two children were born.

Mr. Boroughf was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Brentwood, and he enjoyed photography, classical music, and computers.

During his working life, he was employed by the Defense Mapping Agency, now known as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, St. Louis, as a Cartographer for thirty-five years prior to his retirement in 1999. Cartographers collect, measure, and interpret geographic information in order to create and update maps.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Boroughf include: His wife of fifty-four years, Carolyn, of the home in Brentwood; one daughter, Heather Rose Boroughf, Brentwood; four granddaughters, Rosealyn, Chloe, Courtney, and Persephone; one brother, Edward John Boroughf (Laurie), Lawton, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Brenda Tyler (Charles), Hayden; nephews, nieces, with greats and great-greats as well; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Holmes Boroughf, on July 17, 1999; his father, Arthur, on August 28, 1991; his mother, Carolyn, on October 18, 1994; his father-in-law, Chester Wesley Jennings, on September 5, 1991; his mother-in-law, Martha Isabelle (Roberson) Jennings, on September 19, 2019; and one brother-in-law, Larry Chester Jennings, on May 26, 2012.

Services for Mr. Boroughf are pending. Inurnment was next to his beloved son, Benjamin, in Kenner Cemetery, near Dixon, with all arrangements by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
