Obituary

Imogene Grapes, of Vienna, formerly of Columbia, was born on November 9, 1917, in Howard County, Missouri, the daughter of Eugene and Edna (McKinzie) Williams, and departed this life at 7:54 a.m., on Thursday, July 3, 2014, in the Maries Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Vienna. Mrs. Grapes had attained the age of 96 years, 7 months, and 25 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Grapes was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church. While living in Columbia, she was a supervisor and cook at a supermarket delicatessen for thirty years retiring in 1984 and moving to Vienna. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, and traveling with her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Grapes include: One daughter, Donna Hollis and husband, Norman, of rural Dixon; one grandson, Gary Hollis, Jefferson City; and other relatives and friends.

A loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Imogene will indeed be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services were conducted for Mrs. Grapes at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Lynn Quist, pastor of the Vienna United Methodist Church officiating. A vocal selection of the hymn, "In the Garden", was played for the service.

Interment was in the Vienna Cemetery under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Grapes were Gary Hollis, Johnnie Hollis, Rickie Hollis, Dakota Hollis, Travis Crum, and Craig Crum.

Memorials contributions are suggested by the family of Mrs. Grapes to the Vienna United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
