Obituary

Irma Louise Stuecken, of Freeburg, was born on September 15, 1926, at Freeburg, a daughter of Frederick "Fritz" and Gertrude Elizabeth (Rudroff) Struemph, and departed this life at 6:30 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia. Irma had attained the age of 89 years 1 month and 28 days.

Irma was united in marriage on June 14, 1947, at Freeburg to Herman "Babe" Bernard Stuecken, and to this union, three children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 4, 2005; her father "Fritz" on January 27, 1990; her mother, Gertrude on September 26, 1992 and three sisters, Virginia Voss, Evelyn Stuecken and Laurine Wildhaber.

Irma was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, the Ladies Sodality of the Church, the Holy Family Adult Choir, was song leader and lay minister. Irma attended college in Belleville, Illinois where she studied vocal and instrumental music. As a teenager, Irma had worked as a soda jerk and after college she worked at the Missouri State Capitol and then for Quaker Window Products, Freeburg retiring after 52 years, as well as being a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, enjoyed traveling especially to the East coast, reading and music, but her greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to mourn the passing of Irma include: one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Lorraine Stuecken, Freeburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Steve McIntosh, Jefferson City and Cheryl and Paul Hickman, Taos; one brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Aggie Struemph, Freeburg; two sisters, Rosemary Castrop, Yukon, Oklahoma and Alice Stratman, Jefferson City; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Wildhaber, Sr., Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Gena, Shane, Stacia, Ryan, Stephanie and Bryce; six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Kelton, Jacob, Amelia, Lauren and Eleanor; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Irma will be from 5 – 7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., on Monday, November 16, 2015 and from 9 – 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Irma at 10 a.m., Tuesday morning, November 17, 2015 in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg with the Rev. William D. Debo officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Masses or memorial contributions to the Holy Family School are preferred by the family with envelopes available at the Holy Family Church or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
