James Michael Boyster, of Vienna, formerly of Richwoods, was born on April 4, 1941, at Richwoods, a son of Minnick Anner Boyster and Rachel Margaret (Thebeau) Boyster, and departed this life at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday afternoon, July 16, 2016, in the Maries Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center, Vienna, following a brief illness. Jim had attained the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 12 days.
He was united in marriage on April 8, 1961, at Richwoods, to the former Miss Delores Lee "Dory" Wideman, and to this union, four children were born. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Dory, on July 3, 2006; one son, Rob Boyster, on July 14, 2015; one grandson, T.J. Hayes, on March 8, 1990; his father, Minnick, in 1984; his mother, Rachel, on December 6, 2015; and one sister, Shirley Mae DiNatale, on October 29, 2010.
The Vienna United Methodist Church had been a part of Jim's life as well as being a member of the Lanes Prairie Lodge No. 531 A.F. & A.M. in Vichy. Through the years, Jim and Dory enjoyed bowling on various teams and singing, as often as they were allowed to do, their version of the Johnny Cash and June Carter classic "We Got Married In A Fever . . . " while he played his guitar, of which he was quite talented. Very few days passed without Jim being involved in a card game and socializing with his friends which were two activities he thoroughly enjoyed.
He had been a truck driver for most of his working life being employed by the BowWow Dog Food Company in Rolla followed by owning and operating Moreland's Resort on the Gasconade River south of Vienna and later as an independent truck driver prior to his retirement.
Those left to mourn the passing of Jim include: His father, since he was an infant, Kenneth Moreland, of Vienna; his step-mother, Helen Boyster, Mt. Vernon, Indiana; his children, Kelly Boyster and wife, Myra, of Cadet, Sheri Godat and husband, Jim, of Vienna, and Gail Hayes and husband, Jeff, of Blackwell; daughter-in-law, Alisha Boyster, of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Dustin Boyster and friend, Tasha, of Vienna, Russell Boyster of Cadet, Kara Cohlmia and husband, Aaron, of Dixon, Lana Hayes and friend, Casey, of Potosi, Kelsey Hayes of Blackwell, David Godat and wife, Tracy, of Richwoods, Wesley Godat of St. Clair, and Tommy Thompson and wife, Angie, of Jefferson City; fifteen great-grandchildren, Harper, Liam, Layla, Easton, Ahri, Dalton, Caleb, Devin, Caleb, Samuel, Josiah, McKayla, Chelsea, Chase and Brennen; two great-great-grandchildren, Rose and Luna; three brothers, Glen Boyster and wife, Michelle, of Mt. Veron, Indiana, Les Moreland and wife, Ginger, of Vienna; and Robin Moreland of Vienna; nephews; nieces; great-nephews; great-nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Tina Smith, Linda Jones, Linda Collins, and Lisa Meier.
Jim's family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Saturday morning, July 23, 2016, in the James Community Cemetery, 13164 Maries Road 325, Vienna, prior to the graveside funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Lynn Quist, Pastor of the Vienna United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow next to his beloved wife,
Dory, of 45 years under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers for Jim will be Dustin Boyster, Russell Boyster, David Godat,
Wesley Godat, Tommy Thompson, Aaron Cohlmia, Casey Blair, Liam Cohlmia, and Easton Blair.
